James M. Shay, CRIS, ARM

Mr. Shay is copresenting Workshop M1, “ABCs of the Construction Process,” on Monday. He currently serves as a risk management executive for American Contractors Insurance Group in Dallas. Before joining ACIG over 3 years ago, he was corporate risk manager for Swinerton Incorporated (large general builder, construction services provider) out of San Francisco. While at ACIG, he has served several of its general builders and is responsible for overseeing ACIG’s wrap-up program (A-Z Program), an alliance with Zurich Insurance, on behalf of its members.

Mr. Shay is a San Francisco Bay Area native and in 1988 graduated from San Francisco State University. Since that time he has earned the WCCP (Workers’ Compensation Claim Professional) designation in California, the ARM (Associate in Risk Management) designation, and most recently the CRIS (Construction Risk and Insurance Specialist) designation through International Risk Management Institute.
