Ms. Molander is one of the presenters for Workshop T1, “Allocation Issues in Construction Defect Claims,” on Tuesday afternoon. She is a partner in the San Francisco office of Sedgwick, Detert, Moran & Arnold, a litigation law firm with 400 attorneys in offices in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Orange County, Chicago, Dallas, Austin, Houston, New York, New Jersey, London, Bermuda, Paris, and Zurich. Ms. Molander’s practice emphasizes insurance claims practices, insurance coverage, insurance regulatory and market conduct issues, and insurance-related litigation, including bad faith, professional liability (agents and brokers), insurance fraud, and declaratory relief actions. She has served as counsel to property and casualty insurers, life, health, and disability insurers, umbrella and excess insurers, professional liability and D&O programs, brokers and agents, commercial and personal lines, reinsurers, and reinsurance intermediaries.

Ms. Molander has represented the insurance industry in jury and court trials in the state and federal courts, appellate proceedings, administrative hearings and arbitrations, mediations, and other forms of alternative dispute resolution. She has extensive experience in resolving complex insurance coverage and claim disputes, particularly in the environmental, employment, and construction fields.

In addition to her insurance practice, Ms. Molander also represents employers and insurers in litigation arising under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA). She is admitted to practice before all California state courts, the federal courts of the Northern, Central, and Southern Districts of California, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court.

Ms. Molander is an active speaker, having presented at hundreds of conferences and seminars, public and private. She currently serves as chair of the Insurance Law Committee of the Defense Research Institute, a global organization representing the interests of attorneys engaged in the defense of individuals and organizations in civil litigation. She also participates as vice-chair of the Insurance Coverage Litigation Committee of the ABA/TIPS, a leadership position with the American Bar Association’s Tort, Trial and Insurance Section. She was the first woman to become president of the Association of Defense Counsel of Northern California and Nevada. She served as chair of the State Bar of California’s Insurance Law Committee. Since 2005 she annually has been recognized as a Super Lawyer in California, a designation given to fewer than 200 counsel. She is one of 12 lawyers in California listed in Who’s Who Legal, the International Who’s Who of Business Lawyers.
