John Henderson, BA, ACII, AKE

Mr. Henderson is one of the speakers for Workshop W3, “Managing Risks on High-Profile Projects—A Case Study,” on Wednesday morning. He has served at Aspen since he became head of its newly formed Marine and Energy division in 2004. He began his career in 1975 as a broker at Sedgwick Forbes North American Company (now part of Marsh). In 1984, he moved to Alexander Howden (now part of Aon) Energy division as a director, then managing director, of its Liability section. In 1989, he moved to S.A. Holmes and others at Lloyd’s, supporting the underwriter on the Marine, Energy, and Construction account. In 1996, he moved to the Commercial Union (now Aviva) as liability underwriter and then head of Marine and Energy Underwriting. From 2000 he was deputy then in 2001 Active Underwriter of Syndicate 1861 at Lloyd’s.

Mr. Henderson is a recipient of the Lloyd’s Saval Sabbatical Award and he is past chairman of the London Joint Liability Committee and Lloyd’s Marine Association.
