Steven A. La Shier
Former Director, Risk Management
Prior to his death in January 2011, Mr. La Shier was director of risk management at the University of California, Riverside. Before joining the University of California, he was director of risk management for the Los Angeles Unified School District. Overall, Mr. La Shier had more than 35 years of construction and insurance experience as an insurance executive, risk manager, and contractor administering risk management, project safety, labor relations, and loss control programs. Several times published and a frequent speaker to trade associations, professional societies, and industry conventions, he was recognized as an industry authority in construction wrap-ups, risk management, and safety management.
Mr. La Shier was the 1997 recipient of the IRMI Words of Wisdom (WOW) Award, presented at the 17th IRMI Construction Risk Conference.
