DALLAS—A diverse group of thought
leaders—100 risk managers, agents, brokers, underwriters, adjusters, and
attorneys—convened in San Francisco July 20–21 to share knowledge about
managing and insuring technology, privacy, and cyber risks at the first
IRMI Cyber & Privacy
Risk Conference.
International Risk Management Institute, Inc. (IRMI), hosted the
Conference to address the complex exposures arising from the use of
technology in business. Nationally known insurance brokerage, underwriting,
and legal experts from firms such as Aon, Beazley, Chartis, Lockton, Marsh,
and Zurich offered practical strategies to help attendees make certain their
stakeholders are properly insured and well positioned to respond to any
incidents that occur.
“This program was an eye-opening revelation of just how pervasive and
undermanaged cyber risks are,” said IRMI president and CEO Jack P. Gibson.
“Most businesspeople don’t realize just how little of the cyber risk their
businesses face is covered by traditional insurance, and, as a result, they
aren’t buying the special products now available to cover them. The risk
managers, agents, and brokers who attended the Conference went home with the
knowledge they needed to identify cyber risks and put a cyber liability
insurance program in place.”
