Risk Management Institute, Inc. (IRMI), will host the
29th IRMI Construction Risk
Conference November 1-5, 2009, at the Gaylord National Resort &
Convention Center in National Harbor, MD (in the Washington, D.C., area).
Recommended by the Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA),
Associated General Contractors of America (AGC), and the National
Association of Surety Bond Producers (NASBP), the IRMI Construction Risk
Conference is the only national symposium devoted exclusively to
construction insurance, risk management, loss control, and bonding. The
3½-day program is designed for construction industry risk management and
financial officers; construction project owners; and the insurance and
surety agents, brokers, advisers, attorneys, and underwriters who serve
them.
The keynote addresses will focus on lessons learned by the construction
and insurance industries during the economic crisis and will feature Edmund
F. Kelly, Ph.D., FSA, Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer of
Liberty Mutual Group, and Hugh L. Rice, Chairman of FMI Corporation.
The 29th IRMI Construction
Risk Conference curriculum consists of 27 workshops facilitated by
insurance, safety, legal, and bonding experts from across the United States.
A few of the topics to be covered are: “Identifying and Managing Contract
Risks,” “Wrap-Up Dos and Don'ts,” “Filling Your 'Green' Toolbox,” “Reducing
Risks Via Quality Control and Leadership,” “Risk and Insurance Implications
Due to Project Delays,” “Understanding Risk Financing Options,” “Best
Practices for Eliminating Crane Losses,” “Filling the Holes in Contractors’
Liability Coverages,” and “Additional Insured Surprise—Horizontal
Exhaustion.”
The “early bird” registration fees are $1,450 for the entire program
(Monday through Thursday noon) or $1,350 for the Tuesday through Thursday
noon program. Contractors and project owners attending for the first time
qualify for a special first-timers’ half-price registration fee of $725.
“Business cases” are also available for download to seek approval to attend.
