IRMI Launches Two New Construction Risk Seminars

DALLAS—International Risk Management
Institute, Inc. (IRMI), announces the inception of two new seminar series
to debut this Spring: Construction Defect Risk Management and Insurance
and Wrap-Ups: Avoiding the Pitfalls. Construction Defect Risk Management
and Insurance is designed to help developers, contractors, and their
insurance agents, brokers, and underwriters successfully manage construction
defect risks; Wrap-Ups: Avoiding the Pitfalls focuses on ensuring successful
controlled insurance programs.
Each of these seminars is 1½ days and they will be held back-to-back
in three different cities across the United States. The dates and locations
are as follows.
Construction Defect Risk Management and Insurance
- Orlando, FL: April 24–25
- Las Vegas, NV: May 15–16
- Dallas, TX: June 5–6
Wrap-Ups: Avoiding the Pitfalls
- Orlando, FL: April 25–26
- Las Vegas, NV: May 16–17
- Dallas, TX: June 6–7
Each seminar series will be presented by two industry experts: Construction
Defect Risk Management and Insurance will be presented by Jeffrey D.
Masters and Michael J. O’Neill, and (more) Wrap-Ups: Avoiding the Pitfalls
will be led by Kathleen A. Creedon and Christopher T. Smith.
Jeffrey D. Masters is a partner in the Litigation Department and
cochair of the Development Risk Management Practice Group at Cox, Castle
& Nicholson LLP. Mr. Masters represents developers, home builders, and
lenders in complex insurance coverage, construction defect, and real
estate litigation matters. Michael J. O’Neill, CPCU, ARM, has been involved
in the construction insurance industry for more than 30 years. He is
executive vice president of American Contractors Insurance Group and
a frequent speaker for construction industry trade associations.
Kathleen A. Creedon, CIC, CRM, a 30-year industry veteran, has focused
on construction-related insurance since 1987. Before starting Wrap Strategies,
an independent consulting firm, in 2001, she worked with Aon Risk Services
managing more than 30 wrap-up projects of varying size. Christopher
T. Smith is the corporate insurance manager and national CCIP director
for Turner Construction Company, and has spent 12 years focusing exclusively
on underwriting and managing the risks of construction and wrap-up accounts.
