DALLAS—The 23rd IRMI Construction
Risk Conference will take place November 17 through November 20, 2003,
in Chicago. The 3 ½-day Conference is the only national symposium devoted
exclusively to construction, insurance, risk management, loss control,
and bonding. The program is designed for construction industry risk
management and financial officers, construction project owners, and
the insurance and surety agents, brokers, advisers, and underwriters
who serve them.
The Construction Risk Conference is redesigned each year and features
more than 25 presentations by insurance, safety, legal, and bonding
experts from throughout the United States. Some of the topics to be
explored include: Workers Comp Trends and Development; The Lost Art
of Preparing Marketing Specifications; Complex Builders Risk Claims;
Asset Theft Prevention; Surety Credit; ADA and the Construction Industry;
CCIPs and Safety; Risk Management and Insurance for Design Professionals;
Umbrella Liability Insurance; Alternative Market Options for Contractors;
OCIPS; Home Builders’ Risk and Insurance Issues; Joint Venture Liability;
Responding to Insurer Insolvency; and more. Executive panels will address
a variety of construction risk, insurance, and bonding issues.
The Conference begins with optional full and half-day seminars conducted
on Monday, November 17. This year’s seminar half-day seminar topics
(each attendee can sign up for two) are "Mold Remediation and Coverage,”
"Contractual Risk Transfer,” "Construction Defect Trends and Developments,”
and "Managing Construction Workforce Issues.” Risk managers have an
additional option on Monday afternoon, "Risk Managers Roundtable,” which
is an open discussion of topics chosen by participants. A full-day seminar,
"Construction Insurance and Bonding Overview” is also available for
those needing a basic introduction or refresher course.
Attendees have the option of registering for the entire program Monday
through Thursday noon (at $1,185) or Tuesday through Thursday noon (at
$1,085). Contractors and project owners attending for the first time
qualify for a special first-timers’ half-price registration fee of $592.
