Robert S. Giles, CIW
Robert S. Giles writes the
Wholesale Distribution Issues column for IRMI.com.
Mr. Giles is the 2002-2003 president of the American Association of Managing
General Agents, is president and chief operating officer of R.W. Scobie Inc.,
CMGA; Midwest General Agency, CMGA; First Western Insurance Inc., CMGA, and
Premium Finance Corp., with offices in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, Minneapolis, West
Des Moines, Iowa, and Omaha, Nebraska.
Mr. Giles began his career with R.W. Scobie, Inc., in 1974 following graduation
from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire with a degree in Business Management.
He earned his Certified Insurance Wholesaler (CIW) designation from AAMGA University
in 1996.
During his career he has worked in a variety of areas for the company including
personal lines underwriting, commercial lines underwriting, marketing, and management
of several departments. He has served as president and has been responsible
for the day-to-day operations of the combined companies for the past several
years.
In addition to his service to the industry in various committee and leadership
roles of AAMGA and AAMGA University, Mr. Giles has been active in both local
and national civic and charitable organizations, including Rotary, United Way,
the Boy Scouts of America, Friends of Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire, and
the Eau Claire Masonic Lodge as a 32nd Degree Mason.
