G. Barry Klein
G. Barry Klein, CPCU, CLU, contributes articles on risk and insurance history for
IRMI.com. He likes to say that he really doesn't have any interest in insurance
history, he's just been around long enough to remember it all.
Mr. Klein started in the insurance industry in 1959, working in a family
agency. He received a bachelor's degree in insurance from San Diego State and
did graduate work in insurance at UCLA. He was in the retail insurance agency
business, writing industrial commercial lines accounts, until he sold his last
agency in the early 1980s to develop QuickRate, the first national commercial
lines rating system. Mr. Klein has been in the automation side of insurance
ever since.
As an avocation, Barry maintains www.barryklein.com,
the oldest, largest, and best-maintained set of insurance links on the web.
