Mr. Garcia began his insurance career in 1972 with Hartford Insurance in Oklahoma City. After serving as claims manager and branch manager with American States and Great American in Oklahoma, Texas, Colorado, and New Mexico, Baron and his wife, Ty, started a small retail agency in Oklahoma City. He joined Oklahoma General Agency in 1985 and purchased the company in 1988.

Mr. Garcia is capping a long history of service and involvement in the insurance industry by serving as 2001-2002 President of the American Association of Managing General Agents (AAMGA). He has served on the AAMGA Board of Directors as a member and chairman of the Trade Mart Committee, and as Board Liaison to the InterAssociation Liaison Committee and the Under Forty Organization. He served as activities chairman for the 1994 Annual Meeting in Orlando, Florida, and the 1998 Annual Meeting in Puerto Rico.

He also co-chaired AAMGA's first Personal Lines Symposium in New Orleans, an event that helped inform many people throughout the industry about the wholesale distribution system, how MGAs operate, and about AAMGA, the nation's premier trade association representing select, established members of local, state, and regional insurance managing offices with contractual authority to perform managerial functions on behalf of insurers through the American agency system.
