IRMI Seeks Outstanding Construction Risk Managers for Gary E. Bird

DALLAS—International Risk Management
Institute, Inc. (IRMI), is seeking nominees for this year’s Gary E.
Bird Horizon Award, to be presented at the upcoming 25th IRMI Construction
Risk Conference (November 7-10, 2005) in Las Vegas. The winner will
be announced at a special awards luncheon during the Conference on Wednesday,
November 9, 2005.
The Gary E. Bird Horizon Award was created to honor those who expand
the risk management horizon in search of new and innovative ways to
approach the risks associated with construction projects.
The winner will receive roundtrip airfare, hotel accommodations,
and a complimentary registration to next year’s Construction Risk Conference,
October 9-12, 2006, as well as an award and recognition at this year’s
Conference.
Applications may be submitted for any of the following categories:
Loss Control, Risk Financing, Risk Transfer, or Risk Analysis. All full-time
business professionals charged with managing construction risks or the
development of a construction-oriented risk management technique are
eligible. Candidates must have been in their current position at least
3 years at the time of application.
Judging is based on innovation, adaptability to the rest of the construction
industry, cost-efficiency, effectiveness, and current applicability.
The judging panel will comprise leading construction industry specialists
including an insurance broker, an insurance company representative,
an insurance consultant, a risk management professional representing
owners, a risk management professional representing contractors, and
representatives of professional construction organizations.
Candidates may be nominated or may nominate themselves. The
