DALLAS—Based on the success of last summer’s seminar series on using captives to solve insurance challenges for middle market companies, International Risk Management Institute, Inc. will present it again in the first quarter of 2003. The program, “Captive Insurance Solutions for the Middle Market,” will be held on February 19 and 20 in Las Vegas, February 25 and 26 in Chicago, and March 4 and 5 in New York City.

“Middle market companies—those too small to be counted among the Fortune 500—are still being severely impacted by the hard insurance market, and this program equips them to solve these problems with sophisticated alternative risk transfer (ART) programs,” said Jack Gibson, IRMI’s president. “Our two speakers did such a fantastic job last summer, that the seminar received dean’s list quality grades (a 3.79 average out of a possible 4.0) from the nearly 200 people who attended. They've made a few adjustments in the agenda based on the feedback we received, and we're ready to do an even better job this time around.”

“Captive Insurance Solutions for the Middle Market” is an intensive and focused learning session for financial officers, risk managers, association executives, consultants, and agents/brokers who are considering forming a captive insurance company, participating in an existing group captive, or utilizing a rent-a-captive on behalf of a midsize organization.

The presenters will once again be Kate Westover, president of Captive Advisory Services, and author of Captives and the Management of Risk, and Bill McIntyre, chairman of American Contractors Insurance Group. These two very experienced industry professionals will compare captives to traditional programs, explain how to evaluate whether a rent-a-captive or group captive is optimal in different situations, outline a game plan for fast-tracking the formation of a group or association captive, and detail the most important keys to the success of a group captive insurance company.
